  4. Red Cross Basic Lifeguarding

    January 21, 2018, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM @ Indianola Activity Center and Indianola YMCA

    Are you interested in becoming a lifeguard and joining the team at Indianola Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center?! This is the class for you! Our Red Cross certified LGIT/LTP will teach you all the basic skills needed to become a Lifeguard. Pre-requisite skills include a 300 yard swim, treading water for two minutes with legs only, and a timed retrieval of a brick from the deep end. Successful completion of this course will result in a two year certification for Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Professionals. Participants must be 15 years of age by May 5, 2018. Attendance at all three classes is mandatory - no exceptions and no makeups. Successful completion of this class is the first step in gaining employment at Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center. $115.00 of class fee will be refunded upon successful completion of one season of employment at Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center.

  10. Registration Deadline for Adult Indoor Bags League

    January 26, 2018, All Day @ Activity Center

    New for 2018! Grab a friend and join this new indoor league! The ever-popular bags/cornhole game is moving indoors this winter! Prizes will be awarded to top finishers. Teams will play a best of three match with double headers scheduled each night. Must be 21 years old to participate. BYOB is allowed, provided no glass bottles and no liquor. Responsible beer consumption will be allowed. Waiver for each league participant needs completed before first night of league play.
