IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO RESIDENTS
Subject: 2020 United States Census
In 2020, there will be a federal census DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME in March by the U.S. Census Bureau. This census is performed every 10 years.
The 2020 Census count will be used to ensure that Indianola and Iowa gets our fair share of federal money and political representation for the next 10 years. Representation in the United States Congress and the Electoral College is based on United States Census responses.

Q: What is the United States Census?
A: The census is a count of everyone living in the United States. This mandatory count is required by the U.S. Constitution.
Q: Who gets counted?
A: Everyone. All people residing in the United States must be counted. This includes people of all ages, background — citizens and non-citizens. Federal law protects the personal information you provide during the census.
Q: When will the census happen?
A: March 2020. The United States Census is conducted every 10 years. Census invitations will be mailed or delivered to every household in the nation starting in mid-March. The survey will ask you to provide information that is accurate for your household or where you reside most of the year, as of April 1, 2020.
