When actual temperature is 90-94 degrees:
Action 1:  Monitor participants
Action 2:  Provide mandatory breaks during games.
Action 3:  Make sure coaches have plenty of water at games and players are drinking plenty of water.

When actual temperature is 95 degrees & up:
Action 1:  Postpone start of first game
                  30-60 minutes.
Action 2:  Follow Actions 1-3 above.

When actual temperature is 98 degrees or a heat index of 105:
Action 1:  Postpone/Cancel games. 

The temperature and heat index will be obtained from the weather service at approximately 4:00 pm on game day.

Evening Events:
Cancellation decisions for evening activities are not made until after 4:00 pm, to allow for Iowa's quickly changing weather conditions, so please do not call the office earlier than that.  Cancellations will be published online here, and left on our voice mail system, where you press 1 to hear cancellation information.
