Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site – Free Disposal Many home, garden and auto products contain potentially dangerous chemicals poisonous to people, fish, wildlife and plants. Product labels containing the words “danger, poison, warning or caution” should be considered hazardous. Household products are also considered hazardous if they have at least one of the following characteristics:
Toxic – may cause injury or death upon being inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin.
Caustic/Corrosive – a chemical or its vapors can cause deterioration or irreversible alteration in body tissues and deteriorate.
Flammable – can ignite or explode under normal working conditions.
Reactive – can explode through exposure to heat, sudden shock, pressure or incompatible substances.
By pulling together we can divert 3 tons of hazardous waste from our landfill. In 2008 over 4900 lbs of material was collected at the Indianola Brush Facility.

Days and Time: Thursday noon – 7:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday noon - 4:00 p.m.
Date: Opens for the season on April 5, 2012
Accepted Items: stain and varnish, drain and oven cleaners, weed killer, gasoline and kerosene, aerosol cleaners, oil and lead-based paint, ammonia-based cleaners, petroleum-based adhesives, alkaline & rechargeable batteries, fertilizers and pesticides, metal polishes and rust removers, sharps/needles/syringes, oil filters, mercury thermostats and fluorescent light bulbs.
Non-Accepted Items: latex paint, lead-acid batteries, motor oil, ammunition/explosives, radioactive material, radioactive material, compressed gas cylinder, fire extinguishers, empty containers, incandescent light bulbs and used tires.
