    THIS TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Discover Iowa’s rich heritage and culture as we tour two of downtown Des Moines’ most notable historical sites! We’ll start with a guided tour of the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. This building has been restored into an impressive museum. Next we’ll enjoy lunch at Café Baratta’s in East Des Moines with stunning views of the Iowa State Capitol Building and the downtown area. After lunch we’ll explore the State Historical Museum of Iowa. Your registration fee covers transportation and parking. Please bring spending money for lunch. NO REFUNDS AFTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE.

    Warm, fresh, personal fruit pies will be the topic of this class! Try new fruit recipes that are yummy and nutritious! Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes are a great way to expose your children to new foods while learning life-long skills in the kitchen. Participants will learn about the importance of the food groups, food safety, and the value of nutrition. Join Warren County Extension and Outreach staff for hands-on learning, measuring, stirring, preparing, and sampling different recipes! A 4-H Medical Release form is required for each participant.     Brighten your home this holiday season with a new table topper. Cindy Butler and Lisa Butler-Msuya of Binding Hearts Quilting will lead this two week class to complete a 22 inch quilted topper or wall hanging before Christmas. Learn how to make 8 half-square triangles at once, match seams, quilt with a walking foot, and add binding to finish this project. Participants need to bring their own sewing machine and have knowledge of how to use, and also sewing supplies (see supply list).

  15. Youth Coed Basketball League Registration Deadline

    November 15, 2019, All Day

    Adult volunteer coaches will teach basketball skills through practices and games. The program will emphasize participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Whether you are just starting or have played for a few years, there is a place for you on a team! Program fee includes team t-shirt. All players registered by the deadline of November 15 are guaranteed a spot on a team. After the deadline, there are no guarantees. Practices will tentatively begin the 1st week of January with practices and games on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays (two weeks of practices, four weeks of games). When registering your child, please consider coaching or finding a family member or friend who can assist with coaching. We are looking for enthusiastic adults who enjoy helping children learn in a positive environment.
