The Indianola Activity Center provides a welcoming environment where our community’s adults ages 50 or better can engage in a healthy and active lifestyle and enhance their quality of life. All activities are free unless noted, and there is currently no membership fee. Suggested donation $2/week.
Check in Procedure
Please check in with the front desk when you visit the Activity Center. This helps us understand how many people we serve. If our receptionist is away, please use the bell and someone will greet you.

Where's Floppy?

From 1957 to 1987, Duane Ellett and his puppet Floppy entertained Iowans on WHO-TV and at the Iowa State Fair with jokes, cartoons, and celebrity guests. Broadcaster and historian Jeff Stein shares favorite moments, photos, and highlights from the classic Iowa TV show that are celebrated in his book, “The Floppy Show”, along with a series of DVDs he has produced.
This free speaker series is sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union and Oak Street Health. This event was also funded by Humanities Iowa, a private, non-profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Joseph Plum, American Bardic Poet

Joseph S. Plum is a bardic poet who lives off-grid in rural Iowa and performs chant-like oral poetry for audiences around the world. With more than 16 hours of memorized verse, he weaves rhyming lines into original poems inspired by the energy of each audience, all without notes or written text. His daughter, Emily Lupita, founded Dreaming Deer Press to publish his work, and copies will be available for purchase following the program.
This free speaker series is open to the public, and sponsored by Community 1st Credit Union.
Tunes & Treats: Ron Burchett

A self-taught musician, Ron has been playing in bands in Warren County since the 1970's. He played guitar and sang for Warren County Line and for Con Brio, which reunited in 2009 and was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His performances include a mix of his own tunes and popular songs listeners will recognize. He brings to life songs by such popular musicians as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Kenny Loggins, James Taylor, Johnny Mathis, and Jerry Jeff Walker.
This free concert is open to the public and sponsored by Vintage Hills of Indianola. Refreshments provided by Indianola Hy-Vee.

Nancy Drew, Iowa Heroine to the World

Nancy Drew is the world’s most popular teen detective, with more than 200 million books sold and translations in at least 45 languages. Few realize she is an Iowa heroine, shaped by Iowa writer Mildred Augustine, who wrote 23 of the first 30 mysteries, including The Secret of the Old Clock, though her authorship remained secret for more than 50 years. The program “Nancy Drew: Iowa Heroine to the World” is led by Barbara Lounsberry, a retired University of Northern Iowa English professor and accomplished author and editor, who brings Iowa literary history to life for audiences of all ages.

Tunes & Treats: David Watson

David Watson has been passionate about music since he began singing and playing guitar at age 16, teaching himself by listening to records and the radio. His career has taken him around the world, including cruise ship performances and stages across Las Vegas nightclubs and casinos. Today he delivers a high-energy show of country and classic rock hits from the 1950s to today, featuring artists such as Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, Journey and Johnny Cash.
This free concert is open to the public and sponsored by Edencrest at the Legacy. Refreshments provided by Indianola Hy-Vee.

Walking Trails
Enjoy a stroll along the mowed grass path around the back of our property or hop on the 10-foot wide paved trail along Highway 92 in front of our building.
