The Zone is an after school program offered in partnership between Indianola Parks and Recreation and Indianola Middle School. After checking in at The Zone students enjoy a snack and then it’s time for the fun to begin. And best of all the program is free, thanks to our many Zone sponsors.
Watch for special scheduled events at The Zone such as dodge ball tournaments, gaming competitions, Wacky Olympics, arts and crafts projects, and theme days.
Curious? Come check it out! We look forward to seeing you at The Zone!
The Zone will be closed on school holidays, early dismissal days, teacher work days, and when school closes for inclement weather.
Students need to behave respectfully and follow all rules while at The Zone. When in doubt, "school rules" apply. For a complete list of rules go to Zone Rules.
On occasion our staff may photograph participants at Parks and Recreation activities, including The Zone. These photographs are for department use and may be duplicated in city publications, flyers, and on our website (students will not be identified by name). If you have concerns about your child being photographed, please let us know.

"My son thinks that dodge ball is the best part. I think as a parent knowing where he was and that he was having a good time and came home happy after school was the best for me."
"I knew he was safe and having fun making new friends."
"I like that students are able to get homework help and also be active after school instead of coming home."
"Not having to be home alone. Fun for the kids, free, and helps out parents."
