Park History
This area was purchased in 1933 as a portion of Indianola's waterworks. The site was named the Richard Downey Memorial Park in honor of caretaker Walter Downey's son, who died in WWII. In 2006, a group of volunteers began fundraising in order to establish the Indianola Dog Park, which opened in 2008.
