Afternoon Adventures Speaker Series: Old Stones & Old Bones
Thursday, July 22, 2021
Join local historian Elodie Opstad as she shares her latest research, along with an
update on restoration efforts at Indianola’s Old City Cemetery.
Elodie began researching the stories of Indianola residents buried in the old city
cemetery. Donations from tours have been used to repair and resurrect some of the old headstones and you’ll be able to see before and after pictures of the results. In this program she will also share stories of early settlers residing in a different section of the cemetery. Their stories are newly discovered and need to be told. Cemetery symbols and their meaning will be explained. Take a step back in time with this fascinating and educational presentation!
