City and school elections throughout the state of Iowa were held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. In the City of Indianola, three seats were open with one contested race in Ward 1.
Unofficial election results showed the following:
Ward 1
- Mellisa Sones: 278 votes
- John Parker Jr. (incumbent): 245
- Write-in: 1
Ward 3
- Steve Armstrong: 344
- Write-in: 12
At-Large
- Josh Rabe (incumbent): 1,603
- Write-in: 57

Results are unofficial until certified by the Warren County Board of Supervisors. Newly-elected Indianola City Council members will take office in January 2024.

City elections will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
This year's candidates for Indianola City Council include only one contested race in Ward 1:
Ward 1

Voting Early
Indianola residents can vote early in all elections by requesting, completing and returning an absentee ballot. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Monday, October 23, 2023.
