Illuminate Indianola

Illuminate Indianola is a project to enhance the alleyway between 111 and 115 N Buxton Street. The project will include murals and lighting on the north and south walls.

The project will begin in August 2025! The Artist will be on site from August 2 - August 14, 2025. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on August 16, 2025, at 5 PM in the alleyway.

The Indianola Public Arts Commission (IPAC) issued a Request for Qualifications followed by a Request for Proposals. IPAC interviewed applicants and reviewed submissions. On December 19, 2024, the City Council approved a resolution to award the project to Lori Hepner. Lori has worked with lighting art before and has plans to include the community in designing the murals! Installation is estimated between May 2025 - September 2025. The overall project budget is $50,000, IPAC received a BRAVO grant for $25,000. We are still in need of funds to sponsor the project, if you are interested in donating, please call City Hall at 515-961-9410 or email arts@indianolaiowa.gov
