Following all necessary inspections, mitigation measures and requirements established by the State of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Indianola Fire Department will conduct a controlled burn for training purposes at the donated structure located at 2103 E 2nd Avenue in Indianola.
The targeted date for the controlled burn is Sunday, March 2. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions or resource constraints, the controlled burn will be postponed to Saturday, March 8.
The controlled burn will begin at noon and is expected to last approximately six hours.
Please avoid the training area, and please also note that portions McVay Trail near the training area will be closed.
The Indianola Fire Department will ensure that all required safety measures, personnel and equipment are in place to maintain a controlled and secure environment for the controlled burn.
Should there be any further updates or changes, the Indianola Fire Department and City of Indianola will promptly share them.
