Employee of the Year Award
The City's Engagement Committee, which is made up of one representative from each department, asked Department Heads to nominate an individual who had any significant accomplishment or achievement during Fiscal Year 2025 that distinguishes them as a standout employee.
Nominees this year included:
- Casey Garcia, Aquatics Director
- Mike Hamner, Operations Specialist
- Jason “JT” Thompson, Facilities Manager
- Jacy West, Adult Services Librarian
For determining this year’s recipient, all nominees were reviewed by the Engagement Committee and selected this year’s winner.
In the nomination submission, this employee was recognized for her outstanding efforts in fostering City partnerships with local organizations and businesses through impactful outreach library programs that she leads.
We are proud to announce that Adult Services Librarian Jacy West is our Fiscal Year 2025 City of Indianola Employee of the Year!
“Jacy has gone above and beyond to build strong connections between the library and community partners, making the library an essential and integral part of the community,” Library Director Michele Patrick wrote. “A few examples of Jacy's dedication include leading the Soup-er Bowl, a light-hearted competition that gathers soup from numerous community partners and provides a free lunch for all. She has also collaborated on joint programs, such as the Cat Café with Kiya Koda, the HiSet program with DMACC, gardening workshops with Master Gardeners and initiatives with nonprofits like Employee & Family Resources. Additionally, she is currently coordinating a local author fair in partnership with Simpson College and a local bookstore.
“While the library has always had cooperative programs with outside groups,” Patrick continued, “we have never experienced this level of visibility in the community—thanks to Jacy's relentless positive attitude and enthusiasm.”
Thank You!
The City of Indianola extends its gratitude and appreciation to all of our employees for their continued dedication in serving Indianola and the impact they have on our great community!
