[ARCHIVED] Recap: Indianola City Council Meets June 2

The Indianola City Council met for a regular meeting on Monday, June 2, followed by a study session.

Both meetings can be viewed at the City's YouTube channel.

Among the items Council approved in the regular meeting were:

  • An ordinance amending Chapter 55, regarding chickens.
  • An ordinance amending Chapter 136, sidewalk regulations.
  • Ordinances amending Chapter 165, zoning regulations.
  • Ordinances amending Chapter 170, subdivision regulations.
  • An ordinance amending Chapter 160, regarding recreational burning.
  • An ordinance repealing Chapter 32, IWC Board of Trustees.
  • A quote from Vice Construction for the apparatus bay drain reconstruction project.
  • Appointments to boards and commissions.

The ordinances approved on June 2 become effective upon their publication in the newspaper of record, scheduled for June 10, 2025.

During the meeting, Mayor Steve Richardson presented Chief of Culture and Recreation Doug Bylund with a Certificate of Merit in recognition of his exceptional service leading as interim city manager from March 10 through May 27. Please join us in celebrating Doug’s leadership and commitment to Indianola.

Following the meeting, the Council met in study session to discuss the city’s tax abatement program.

The next Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, followed by a study session. The meetings will be open to the public and held in the Council Chambers at Indianola City Hall. A livestream will also be available. Agendas are published on the City's website the Thursday prior to a scheduled City Council meeting.

The Indianola City Council will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 2, followed by a study session.

The meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at Indianola City Hall, located at 110 N 1st Street, Indianola, IA 50125. 

A livestream will also be available through the City of Indianola's YouTube channel.
