The City of Indianola is notifying residents and motorists that the Streets Department has contracted a storm sewer repair project at the intersection of South 1st Street and East 5th Avenue.
Work will begin Wednesday, October 1. The plan is to have the roadway fully reopened by Friday, October 10, weather permitting.
During Construction
East 5th Avenue will be closed just east of the intersection with South 1st Street. The northbound lane of South 1st Street will be closed for the duration of the project.
“No Parking” signs will be posted from parts of the 500 to 600 blocks of South 1st Street, as well as from the intersection to the east side along the 200 block of East 5th Avenue.
All properties directly impacted by the closure should continue placing their trash and recycling bins out on regular collection days.
Project Timeline
The storm sewer repair work is expected to take approximately two days, followed by street and sidewalk repairs that should last another five days.
After the contractor completes the sewer project, the Streets Department will follow with street repairs.
Should there be any updates, the City will share updates on its website and social media accounts.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important infrastructure work is completed.
