National Fire Prevention Week is October 8-14, 2023, and this year's theme is "Cooking safety starts with YOU! Pay attention to fire prevention" from the National Fire Protection Association.

According to the NFPA, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries. The Indianola Fire Department is helping raise awareness about the importance of proper cooking and how you reduce the risk of fire when cooking at home.
