[ARCHIVED] Severe Thunderstorm Warning Expires; Tornado Watch Effective For Indianola Until 9 P.M.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Tornado Watch issued for Indianola and Warren County May 21, 2024.

UPDATE (5:22 P.M. Tuesday, May 21): Indianola Municipal Utilities is aware of the power outages on South E and South 1st streets. Crews are en route to get power restored. Currently, there is no set ETA for when the power will be restored, IMU said.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has expired, but Indianola and Warren County remain in a Tornado Watch effective until 9 p.m.

UPDATE (4:22 p.m. Tuesday, May 21): Irving Elementary will be open as a storm shelter from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The address is 500 W Clinton Ave, Indianola, IA 50125.

At 4:11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, the National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Indianola and Warren County effective until 5:15 p.m.

ORIGINAL POST: At 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, the National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Tornado Watch for Indianola and Warren County effective until 9 p.m. Please monitor local news outlets and take shelter if it becomes necessary.
