The City of Indianola is preparing to begin pavement reconstruction operations along West Clinton Avenue, between North Buxton and North Howard streets, starting Monday, May 19. This important infrastructure project will replace and upgrade aging pavement and is expected to take approximately 60 working days, or about 3-4 months, depending on weather and field conditions.
Full Road Closure Details
During this time, West Clinton Avenue will be fully closed to through-traffic between North Buxton and North Howard streets.
Please note that:
- The intersection of Buxton Street and Clinton Avenue will be closed at the beginning of the project but will partially reopen once intersection work is complete.
- The intersection of Clinton Avenue and Howard Street will remain partially open throughout the project.
Detour Routes, Signage & Travel Safety Tips
Detour routes will be clearly marked to help residents and visitors safely navigate around the closure area. Please follow all posted signs and instructions when traveling near the work zone.
We ask all drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to use caution near construction areas, obey posted traffic signs and detours and allow for extra travel time when moving through or around the area.
Recycling/Trash Collection
All properties directly impacted by the closure should continue placing their trash and recycling bins out on regular collection days. The construction contractor will assist in relocating bins to ensure proper pickup.
Stay Informed & Thank You for Your Patience
The project timeline may shift due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The City will provide updates, as needed, on its website and official social media platforms.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work toward improving this important section of roadway and enhance long-term safety and functionality for the community.
