Due to deteriorating weather conditions, all non-emergency offices, departments and programming for the City of Indianola will close at 2 p.m. and for the remainder of the day Wednesday, Feb. 5. This includes City Hall, the Indianola Public Library, Indianola Parks & Recreation (Indianola Activity Center) and the Indianola Wellness Campus.
The Board of Adjustment meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday is also canceled.
The Indianola Fire Department and Indianola Police Department will continue to serve the community, in addition to our Public Works and Streets Department as crews continue their work in clearing our roads.
Regular hours will resume Thursday, Feb. 6. Should there be any further updates or changes, the City will promptly share them.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for central and southern Iowa, which includes Indianola, until 9 p.m. Wednesday. According to the The National Weather Service - Des Moines, freezing drizzle will expand across much of central Iowa this afternoon and persist into this evening. A light glaze of ice will occur, especially on untreated surfaces and could result in hazardous travel conditions at times.
Please be cautious when driving and give yourself plenty of stopping distance. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday evening commute, the National Weather Service - Des Moines said.
